Alright, Alright, Alright
I am so excited to share with all of you a couple of quick excerpts from DIVA'S DETAIL #6: It's Not All About You. One of the fantastic celebrities experiences I wrote about to illustrate this "detail" is one with the amazing Matthew McConaughey...
"Find out what people want and give it to them. By helping to make the lives of others better you are in fact doing the same for yourself. Your success will be tenfold if people actually like you. Understand you are not the center of the universe and make other people feel like they are. Make them feel important, listened to, understood, special, cared about and you will make fans and friends for life. That is the essence of true charisma...
There are so many successful people that I’ve met who understand this important detail. One in particular is Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey. The first time I met him was at the Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards where he was being inducted. The next time, he came to our TV studios for an interview I was producing. He was friendly, approachable, and decidedly genuine. There was no doubt he was anything but what you see on the big screen. He was real. Matthew took his time introducing himself and greeting every single member of the crew. He didn’t assume everyone already knew who he was, even though everyone obviously did!
Matthew was interested in others, asked questions and actually listened to the answers. He made a point to ask me about the network and my job. He complimented me and stayed after he was done to take a couple of photos despite someone in his entourage tapping their watch. He knew he was one of the biggest stars we’d had in quite a while, but he didn’t act like it. He left that day with more fans than he started out with. Even some of the “non-fans” who were making fun of all the smitten girls on set couldn’t help but be impressed. They hated to admit that in addition to being crazy good-looking, he was actually a really great guy. Despite his fame and popularity, he understands that “it’s not always about you.” He’s got “it” in spades."
